The Whispers of God

About Donna

In typing class, during my high school years, we practiced with silly sentences, and one got stuck in my head. It goes like this, “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” (I can type that pretty fast.)

This practice sentence causes me to sigh in relief knowing God isn’t done with me yet. And that today is a new day to hear His voice and follow Him better than yesterday. I’m hopeful—through His strength as I surrender my life.

My #1 passion in life is hearing and following Jesus, and my #2 passion is sharing His message with others.

Together, my husband Dan, and I are the proud parents of eleven. That, I believe, is the politically correct—Christian way of saying we were divorced with three kids each when we met, fell in love, and married—and that’s how we became the Fitzpatrick Bunch. However, unlike the Brady’s we proceeded to have five more of our own. So, I guess you could say we are more like “Yours, Mine, and Our’s.” And, no, we cannot relate to “Cheaper by the Dozen”—well maybe a little.

Ok, before too many eyebrows raise any higher and too many questions come to mind, I can answer them all with two words: nothing worked. But—seriously—has everything worked in your life as planned? Did you “plan the work and work the plan” only to discover it wasn’t God’s?—We may relate more than you might have originally thought. God’s plans are perfect and I’m grateful for every one of our kids. Which brings me to my current work-in-progress book titled, “Learning to Follow the Whispers God.”

This new book is based on various nautical movies to illustrate a believer’s life. Each film represents Christians either shipwrecked or actively living for the Lord in various types of voyages, or circumstances. Paul warned Timothy about shipwrecked lives when he said, “ . . . fight the good fight, holding on to faith and a good conscience. Some have rejected these and so have shipwrecked their faith”(1 Timothy 1:18b, 19, NIV).

Every now and then I will post a story from this new book under the menu at the top of this site titled: “Learning to Follow.” They will only be posted for a short time for your input and questions in order to make the next book better before going to print.
